Covid19 and Virtual Learning

“The ones who will stay in the game will be those who survive.” Its time that we endure the testing times and sustain to be able to bounce back.”

I have come across a lot of so called professionals who have switched from one trade to another, nothing wrong in it . Then there were host of individuals turned entrepreneurs who got into ppe’s probably with an intent to survive or if it may not sound rude make some money out of the situation. Expertise or no expertise , some just tried to ride the wave but every wave settles down sooner or later . People realized that dupattas , scarves , hankeys and the likes were doing a fairly decent job and that a N 95 was actually needed by the first responders.

The new normal is ‘virtual’ and ‘digital’. But if may not be wrong in saying that its just a polite word , what we are actually referring to is the ‘abnormal‘. We always learnt that ‘man is a social animal’ but unfortunately today we are pressed upon with ‘social distancing.’ Will this animal survive in soliloquy , well I have my doubts.

Do what you do best , do not let the fear of survival whither you like a dry leaf. Be strong, adapt the change and survive!

Juicing : Health Risks & Benefits

unnamed1

Juicing seems to be the latest health craze. Juicing is an easy way to get more fruits and veggies into your diet as they are full of a myriad of important vitamins and minerals. Some of the benefits of juicing are :

Some vitamins are damaged by cooking, so the best way to get these nutrients is to eat them raw.

High water content in fruits helps body to eliminate water more efficiently.

Juices contain some amount of fiber, depending on how it is made. Like soft fruit and vegetable mode in blender will contain more fiber.

Our body absorbs nutrients faster in the juice form.

Juicing also carries potential dangers that could cause unwanted side effects and threaten your health.

Raw contaminated food can cause food borne disease like diarrhea and hepatitis.

Drinking juice can lead to increase in the blood sugar level suddenly as it gets absorbed quickly.

Can lead to weight gain, as juices are high in calorie and provide energy without relieving hunger.

Juicing for weight loss or cleansing purpose :

Going on a full juice diet can be unhealthy and dangerous, as juices do not provide the necessary nutrients for our body entirely. Fiber and proteins are definitely not the substitute of a whole diet.

If you are on medication, please consult your doctor before starting ‘juicing’, as some of the nutrients might react differently with your medication.

Green Tea

unnamed

Tea is considered the most consumed beverage in the world after water. However 78% of the tea consumed worldwide is black and only about 20% is green. Green tea is considered one of the world’s healthiest drinks and contains one of the highest amounts of antioxidants of any tea. Some of the benefits associated with green tea are:

Lowers cholesterol

Helps in maintaining mental alertness

Drinking green tea is linked to a reduced risk of clogged arteries

Drinking green tea might help increase blood pressure in elderly people, who have low blood pressure after eating

Sipping tea helps you slow down and relax and has a calming effect. Here’s how to make your next cup:

1. Don’t add green tea to boiling water. It’s bad for catechins, the healthy chemicals, in the tea.

2. Add lemon. Vitamin C makes the catechins easier to absorb. Dairy, on the other hand, makes it harder to absorb them.

3. Nutrient levels in green tea can vary. Pricier teas are usually richer in nutritional value as opposed to canned green-tea drinks.

The benefits of green tea are tangible and impressive indeed. However, green tea has been associated with a few side effects too. Some of which are listed:

1. Green tea is high in caffeine. If consumed too much, it can affect the mental health as well and cause problems like anxiety, mood swings or insomnia.

2. Tannins present in green tea affect the blood’s ability to absorb essential nutrients especially iron and this can lead to anemia. It can also cause digestive problems.

3. Mothers to be and new mothers should avoid drinking green tea as the caffeine present in it can have detrimental effect on child’s growing brain.

4. Drinking green tea in excess causes flushing out of calcium in the urine, which can lead to osteoporosis.

5. Consult your doctor before switching over to green tea if you are on medication or any kind of hormone stimulant.

Jurassic World – First Day First Show

With Shreekant

Jurassic-World-The-Game

A typical summer block-buster padded with cliches like gun-totting ex-army men who just wanna burn and shoot everything, a career woman who wears Prada in an animal park, Christ Pratt doing one more of his something-cowboy acts – bike and all, a Chinese doctor called Dr. Wu (!), a flamboyant businessman who goes down in blazes of glory, two kids with divorcing parents and growing-up pangs, and enough self-references to the first movies, and product placements from Samsung to Starbucks — And yet, a rather enjoyable affair !!

The CGI dinosaurs are extremely convincing. The fight sequences are done with a good sense of direction and orientation. Some of the sights are terrific. The three sequences where the water-giant Mesosaur appears are probably the best. Hopefully this will get general public to look beyond T-Rex. The Raptors are terrific too, and the final fight sequence is quite satisfactory. The theme park itself, with 20,000 daily visitors, comes across very convincingly.

The story is linear and rather hollow though, along with its male chauvinistic undercurrents. There is wonder in some of the set pieces in terms of visuals (the attack on and from the aviary, for example), but no sense of suspense or drama. The suspense of what DNA goes into the new dinosaur is hardly convincing. And there is no gore. Not one bit. All the blood on screen must have come from a single test-tube.

It is a popcorn fare, made for 4 year old who watch it with bated breath. This last one is guaranteed though !

Clouds of Love

WP_20150407_002a

On the night I met you,
my heart stopped beating it froze with desire,
at what I was seeing.
On this night for us that shouldn’t have been,
what lay ahead nobody could see.
You alone started these flames of wanting desire,
a million seas couldn’t quench the fire.
But love isn’t always the easy ‘Jaan’,
you have to sail the storm to receive the love you send.
So till the day comes that these arms can hold you near,
I’ll sail the storms and watch as the clouds disappear.

Arabian Morning Oatmeal

This is interesting

Samia's avatarRecipe and Story

Adding flavors and ingredients is the best thing you can do with your morning oatmeal. My cousin suggested making oatmeal with nutmeg and chopped dates (mixed & cooked with it rather than added on top). I liked the idea and decided to go on and create a new flavored oatmeal. Then I thought about adding more flavors to it like cardamom, saffron and ground ginger.

Now talking about the name, when I decided to add the above flavors, this name directly came to my mind. Why? Well, cardamom is significantly used as a spice to flavor traditional sweets and beverages like Coffee and tea in the Middle East, and having a bowl of oatmeal full of rich aroma especially cardamom and the other flavors reminded me of drinking flavored Arabic coffee with a piece of Basbousa, so I thought of calling this dish “Arabian Morning Oatmeal”!
